How to Find the Ideal Barber Shop

A barber shop may seem like a thing of the past, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, the barbering industry is growing faster than the consumer goods and services industry.

But choosing a barber shop isn’t always clear-cut. Sure, you can walk into the closest barber shop and hope for the best, but that’s far from the ideal way to choose a barbershop.

Instead, follow these tips to find the right barber shop for you.

Look for Convenience

Location can be everything. If you want to be a regular patron, try to find a barbershop that’s located near your work, school, or other areas you frequent. It’s a good way to save yourself time.

You will also want to look for a place with convenient operating days and times. Some places allow walk-ins, but others may require some planning ahead and an appointment.

Maybe you already know of some local barbershops, but even if you do it’s worth doing a quick search on Google Maps to see what your choices are. Sometimes the best barbershops are small, hole-in-the-wall places. There may even be a new barber shop in your area that you haven’t checked out yet.

You can search for keywords and phrases like “barbers near me” or “haircuts near me.”

Read Reviews and Ask for Referrals

Speaking of Google Maps, not only can they help you locate barbers near you, but they also have reviews you can browse. Social media sites like Facebook will usually have reviews and photos of haircuts.

The latter will give you a good idea of what to expect and what styles the barber is good at. Plus, it can give you some good ideas for future cuts and styles.

Obviously, you can check out online reviews, but you can also take it a step further and ask friends or family for recommendations. Online reviews can be misleading. One bad review doesn’t necessarily reflect a shop’s reputation.

By reading reviews and asking for referrals, you will have a greater chance of finding a barber that offers haircuts and shaving services that men need.

This brings us to our next point…

Know What Services They Offer

Obviously, a trained barber should have certain technical skills, but it goes behind the physical act of cutting hair. In addition to working with different hairstyles and textures, they should be able to offer you suggestions on what cuts will look good on you. They may also suggest additional services, like shaving or special products for your hair.

Experienced barbers also have people skills. Knowing how to interact with others is essential. This could be anything from small talk to keep their clients comfortable to answer any questions a customer may have.

In the end, it’s all about making their customers happy, so they become repeat customers.
